Weekly Training: May 15 – 28

Sup sup. Per usual I am behind :/ I can’t even claim traveling this time. But since we got back from almost 2 months of non stop travel, the past 2 weeks I have been lazy as I’ll get out. You know how people say that they need a vactaion from a vacation? That’s seriously what I have been doing lately.  I’ve been taking naps, reading my book (currently on the thrid book of the Mistborn series), and just hanging out really. It’s been real nice. But I need to get back to things I think. I’m finally feeling motivated again which is nice 🙂

Anywho. Training has been going pretty well. As always it’s not what I envisioned or really wanted to be doing, but I’m trying to be okay with that. I’m somewhat of a perfectionist and to not be doing something 100% of my ability (whether I can control it or not) bothers me. So with my training being sub-par I’ve just been constantly frustrated with it. I would say 80% of the time my training is affected by things outside of my control; but the real frustration lies in the 20% of me just not being as motivated as I usually am. I can’t get myself to do serious workouts every week. I can’t get myself to wake up a little earlier to ensure I get all my miles in. That’s what has really been frustrating. But like I mentioned, I’m trying to be okay with not being perfect. Trying to love it even when things aren’t going as well as I want them to be. Ultimately just trying to be okay & love myself even when I’m flawed. A life long lesson I think but something that I have been focusing on.

Mmmk. No more rambling.

Here’s the past 2 weeks of training:

Monday (May 15): 9.6 Mile @ 8:08 pace. Ran around my home town of Cedar Hills, UT & then up on the trails. Ran by my old house and it made me feel super nostalgic. I had a great childhood.

Tuesday: 7 miles @ 7:18 pace. I ran with the ISU girls that made it to the 1st rounds of NCAA Nationals. It was supposed to be a moderate run with a couple miles under 7:00 pace. All was fine & dandy till they picked the 2 UPHILL miles to do the sub 7 pace (6:43 & 6:37). I was already pooped & that run wore me out.

Wednesday: ???? It’s not on my strava & I honestly can’t remember if I ran or not haha.

Thursday: 8 miles @ 7:37 pace

Friday: 8 miles @ 8:52 pace on the trails

Saturday: 20 MILES! @ 7:10 pace. This is the longest training run I have ever done. And it was going really well until about mile 15. The gel that I was eating made me feel SO sick. Like, I stopped & dry heaved a few times within a mile. I finally just sat down for a while & sipped on some water to try and settle my tummy. Luckily it did settle down enough that I was able to finish it. But those last 5 miles were painful. Legs killed, it was hot, & my tummy was still on edge. But hey, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right? 🙂 Super glad I got this in. Definitely critical for marathon training!

Sunday: Off

Monday: 6.5 miles @ 8:11 pace. Took it nice & easy. Surprisingly felt better than I thought I would.

Tuesday: 2 miles @ 8:14 pace. Nate left at like 7:15 am for Nationals so 2 miles was all I could squeeze in beforehand. We did go on a 2 mile hike later in the day…something is better than nothing!

Wednesday: 10 miles w/6 miles of 4 min on, 1 min off, 2 min on, 1 min off repeated. It was SOOOOOOOO windy. So my paces were super slow. All about the effort, right?

Thursday: 7.7 miles pushing my 2 babes in a jogging stroller. I don’t know how some of your moms do it. I am def not meant to run while pushing a stroller.

Friday: Didn’t want to bother anyone to watch my kids so I could run so I just rode my road bike on the trainer for 75 mins

Saturday: 13 miles @ 7:42 pace. Up then down Pocatello Creek road. Felt really good.

Sunday: OFF. And a long hard nap 🙂

Less than 3 weeks till go time! Woooooooooo!

-till next time-
