Finally back on this running/blogging game! The past few weeks have been crazy with so much travel! I only ran once the week I was in D.C. and then this past week of being home I’ve been trying to get back into the grind… In the past week I did hill repeats, a long run with half of it at marathon pace (6:49s) and then this workout…I’m a little beat up haha. I got both my kids to sleep at the same time today and I told myself I was just going to laid down for a few minutes. Next thing I knew it was an hour later and I was waking up to our neighborhood kids ringing our doorbell a million times cause they wanted Ames to come play haha. This is a good tired though..I feel like I am finally getting in some solid training! Hopefully I can keep it up cause I have just over 2 months till Utah Valley Marathon!
This was my first ‘fast’ workout in over 1.5 years. It felt so good to be back on the oval! I surprised myself with running about 4 secs faster per 400 than planned – always a good thing! I definitely have lost some speed the last set of 400s didn’t really tire me out aerobically, but I just couldn’t get my legs to go much faster. Luckily, it takes me a few workouts like this and I can usually get my legs back under me.
Here is what was planned: 4×400 @ 93 seconds (6:12 pace), 4×400 @ 89 seconds (5:56 pace), & 4×400 @ 85 seconds (5:40 pace) with 90 seconds rest in between all of them.
Here is what I did: 97 (so off on pacing haha), 90, 90, 90, 87, 86, 85, 86, 82, 82, 83, 81.
The last set I averaged 5:28 pace which is not world class by any means, but I was happy with it for now.
Thanks to my amazing husband as always. And, of course, the cutest cheering squad out there 🙂
