wooooweee. What a whirlwind these past few weeks have been. We’ve been going non-stop and things are still going! We’ve successfully completed another semester of school. Nate is now halfway done with his master’s degree and I have ONE more year to complete my bachelors. Our grades weren’t our very best (dang you B+’s…) but I guess I can’t really complain. The past few weeks with getting ready for conference, finals, and getting ready to move home for the summer have been hectic. It was all I could do to just keep my sanity! But folks, we’ve almost made it through. The stressful part is over, and now we just gotta let the race being… literally.
I’m currently sitting in the Hilton Garden Inn in Richmond, Virginia. Today is the first day of the CAA Conference Championships. Going into the meet, we’re ranked 3rd.. but only FIVE points away from 1st. And we have a lot of dark horses… aka, this meet is going to be intense! I really am just super excited for it. Lots of the time I get really nervous and almost dread racing, but lately, I’ve realized how much I love to race. It’s so thrilling. Seeing how much pain you can put yourself through. How long you can hang on to a deathly fast pace. How far inside yourself can you dig to reach that last gear. How many seconds can you will yourself to PR by. Ahhh 🙂 I’m getting tingly just thinking about it! I’m competeing in the steeplechase. My race is the 2nd to last event of the whole meet ( I race tomorrow at 4:30 pm) so I still have over a full day to just sit around; trying to stay relaxed, but secretly getting more and more excited to get out there and compete! I’ll be sure to recap the meet once everything is said and done. Until then- keep a good thought in your head and a little pray in your heart for me and the GA State Panthers 🙂
On another note- we get home from conference on Sunday then bright and early on Monday morning my dear husband and I are going to make another journey back across the country to good ol’ Utah. We’re fortuate enough to be able to go back home for the summer and work there. We’ve grown to like Georgia lots, but we both are still westerners at heart. Plus, what I’m really excited for is FAMILY! I’ve done better than I ever have with keeping the home sickness at bay this past semester, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t miss my families like crazy! I’m so excited to get to spend the whole summer with family and friends. I know Nate is too, even though he won’t fully admit it 🙂
Well, I better get out and do my pre-race run. Gotta get loosey goosey and ready to roll for tomorrow. As my Dad always counsels, all I have to do is… “run fast at the start, run fast in the middle, and run fast at the end!” A sure fire plan for a good race! haha 🙂
Wish me luck and put a smile on your face today!
